Framed Gouache Painting "Reverse Commute"
Framed Gouache Painting "Reverse Commute"
Framed, purple and lavender, 10" x 13" painting, "Reverse Commute" shows a family of four peacocks, a mother and chicks in the foreground and a father peacock in the background. The father peacock displays himself on the roof of a house, while the peahen nurtures chicks in the rock pile above the house.
The monochrome treatment simplifies the image into a value study, which, when combined with the depiction of a classic, California ranch; evokes an illustrative, "home sweet home" nostalgia. The male peacock is conspicuous on display in the background; the peahen almost blends into to rocks of the foreground. The chicks stand on their mother's back while she suns herself. Are they at the same altitude as their father, on the roof of the house so far away down the hill? They should ask him when he comes back to the rocks.
Gouache on hot-press watercolor paper, the painting fits a 10" x 13" frame with space on all sides.
